Say It with a Note

In an ideal world life after marriage would be full of romance, but in reality you can be so busy with work, life, family, friends, children, blogging ;) that romance gets a little sidelined, keep it alive by leaving a note, on the fridge, under the pillow, on the steering wheel, lunch box? and make them smile :)

Most of the boxes here have been made to represent the brides colors and theme of her wedding.

Sandook - The Bridal Box

It was a dear friend of mine that reminded me of this, and what a wonderful idea it is,
almost a lost tradition. Not only a keep sake, but rather classy way to store and move your belongings into your new home.

I'm referring to a sandook, but you may have heard of it as a hope chest, dowry chest, cedar chest, or glory box, what ever you may know it as it serves the same purpose.
Traditionally a chest used to collect items of clothing or household linen, by women in anticipation of married life.

Recently while reading city of dionne, it made me realise how in essence we share such similar traditional all over the world, dionne talked about how her dad kept a glory box before he got married, filling it with items they could use in their married home. How sweet for a guy to be doing it.

For me for as long as i can remember my mother, had been saving for me, clothes, jewellery, or items of kitchen wear (the v slicer has came in very handy i must admit!)
And in an almost customary way when it came to taking all my "jaheez" as it were, we took the route of filling rather large atatchi cases (suitcases).

Using a suitcase maybe the most convenient and cheap option, but the idea of having a sandook, to either help with the moving, or filling while you wait for your big day is a special one!
