Hollywood sexiest Supermodels

Hip Hop Models:

"Hip hop" models are female models who appear in mainstream hip-hop oriented music videos, men's magazines, calendars, award shows, and live performances. Hip hop models are also known as hip hop honeys, dimes (or dymes or dime pieces), video vixens and eye candy. There are primarily two classifications of Hip hop models. There are models who strictly do print media (magazines, calendars, etc.), while others do print media as well as hip hop videos.

Controversy

There is a long list of criticism pertaining to controversies created by hip hop models. Many people in the mainstream feel that hip hop models represent negative, subservient or misogynistic images of women, especially black and Latino women. Detractors accuse hip hop models of causing a misrepresentation of the morals and values of minority women, because hip hop videos are the only way many people around the world are exposed to American Black and Latino culture. For instance, in 2004, Nelly caused protests because of his music video for the song "Tip Drill".

In 2005, a former Hip Hop music video star and model Karrine Steffans aka "Superhead" released her debut book Confessions of a Video Vixen, where she lashes out at the world of hip hop modeling, especially its degradation of women. The book's publisher describes the book as "part tell all, part cautionary tale". Another hip hop model, Candace Smith, said in an XXL interview, "what I've seen on [music video] sets is completely degradation".

Criticism has also reached the very networks that broadcast such videos. BET's former late-night program "BET Uncut" often featured explicit music videos that ordinarily would not have been shown during the day, and many contain partial nudity. "Before, artists were mostly making sexually oriented material for the underground market — providing them to strip clubs, or selling them as part of videos or DVDs. Now, they're bringing them directly to television, through places like BET Uncut and the Playboy network. And more outlets are growing for those who want to see more — or less — than a bikini".

Successful hip hop models

For those who have been fortunate enough to make a name for themselves as hip hop models, there are many avenues to bigger success. Some of these girls have only done limited work as hip hop models but, have found ways to market themselves. Many hip hop models have marketed themselves successfully through fan websites, film, calendars, DVDs, import car shows, personal appearances, party hosting, and various other projects.

Outrageous hottie Sherlyn Chopra has been banned from working out in two of Lokhandwala's prominent gyms. According to the manager of a well-known gym attended by many other Bollywood personalities, Sherlyn had paid for an annual membership and diligently started working out last week.

"She would come to the gym in the morning for her workout, but we had a problem controlling our own trainers who were all too keen on personally training the hottie," said Amar Chauhan one of the floor managers at an up market gym that also houses a popular coffee shop and watering hole at Lokhandwala in suburban Mumbai.

In her recently released and classily shot Pralhad Kakkar video "Outrageous", Sherlyn was seen as kick ass, no-nonsense seducer. Unfortunately, the bese scenes and frames came under the Censor Board's scissors who insisted on chopping off the really "cool" part. Sherlyn will be seen in a completely new avatar in her second video Dard which will go on air in mid-March.

Indian Fashion Designers

Diamonds are girl's best friend but what if it is not within your budget? No worries, Gordon Max has the solution to it. Satisfying the needs of today's women by providing them with affordable elegance and everlasting brilliance, the brand recently opened its new store at the Great India Place in Noida providing exceptionally brilliant stimulants that have the same appeal as the highest grade, naturally formed diamonds. "Gordon Max premium quality stimulants are hand cut and hand polished into the proportion of ‘hearts and arrows', giving a visual effect seen in round shaped diamonds ensuring maximum brilliance and fire and providing a wide selection of old mine cuts to modern and contemporary ones" said Ms. Saraswathi Arjun an, Managing Director, Zuna International Ltd (master franchise of Gordon max India and subcontinent).

The store provides in house certification for cut, size and colour. A hologram certifying every single Gordon Max diamond stimulant is hand cut, hand polished by master diamond cutters. "India is well known for its diamond jewellery. However, there is lack of choices and quality when it comes to these manmade stones. Although no one has introduced premium quality stimulants in a big way in India yet, we are confident that consumers would appreciate that now they have a choice of wearing diamonds at a very affordable price tag without compromising on the quality or the eye", she shared. From pristine colour less to fancy vivid colours, the store will provide you exquisite and limited European designs.

The pieces can be found in various sizes from 0.25ct up to 12ct, in many cuts such as round brilliant in hearts and arrows proportions, princess, emerald, heart and many others. But what attracts us the most is the excellent quality versus price ratio which is 90% of the natural diamonds characteristics with just 4% of the cost. Here comes the price range, the lowest is Rs 6100 for 0.34 carat and it goes to Rs 53,700 for 8 carat. Earlier it was in the habit of all those women to keep their natural diamonds safely locked away in security deposits due to the high value and huge responsibility that comes with wearing one. But with Gordon Max around the corner, every lady can enjoy wearing her diamonds every day, without losing her peace of mind.

We promised to keep you posted on the efforts Miss Universe aspirant Ekta Chaudhary and the best designers of the country are putting in to bring back the crown. here we are with one more update. Gauri and Nainika who is designing her Grand Finale gown which she will be flaunting at the Miss Universe 2009 pageant in August held a fitting session recently at their well equipped design studio at Saket in the capital. "Ekta is very different from others," Nainika opines, "While others are eager on portraying a sexy image for the beauty pageants with cleavage revealing and back displaying gowns, it was very sensible of Ekta to go for a classic look."

List of Bollywood actresses

Bollywood is the informal term popularly used for the Hindi-language film industry based in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. The term is often incorrectly used to refer to the whole of Indian cinema; it is only a part of the total Indian film industry, which includes several regional film industries sorted by language.Bollywood is the largest film producer in India and one of the largest centers of film production in the world.

Bollywood is formally referred to as Hindi cinema, though frequent use of poetic Urdu words is fairly common. There has been a growing presence of Indian English in dialogue and songs as well. It is common to see films that feature dialogue with English words phrases, or even whole sentences. The name "Bollywood" is derived from Bombay (the former name for Mumbai) and Hollywood, the center of the American film industry. However, unlike Hollywood, Bollywood does not exist as a physical place. Though some deplore the name, arguing that it makes the industry look like a poor cousin to Hollywood,it has its own entry in the Oxford English Dictionary.

The term "Bollywood" has origins in the 1970s, when India overtook America as the world's largest film producer. Credit for the term has been claimed by several different people, including the lyricist, filmmaker and scholar Amit Khanna, and the journalist Bevinda Collaco. The naming scheme for "Bollywood" was inspired by "Tollywood", the name that was used to refer to the cinema of West Bengal. Dating back to 1932, "Tollywood" was the earliest Hollywood-inspired name, referring to the Bengali film industry based in Tollygunge, which rhymed with "Hollywood" and was the center of the cinema of India at the time. The name "Bollywood" later arose as the Bombay-based film industry overtook the one in Tollygunge as the center of the Indian film industry.

Isha Vidhya – Three Unique Models Of Education

I recently visited Isha Vidhya outside Coimbatore, on the recommendation of a friend, Deepak Satwalekar. His description was intriguing: the foundation is using three very different models of education to cater to different sections of society. What we saw turned out to be even more extraordinary than Deepak had described.

Isha Rural Schools:

There are 6 Isha Rural Schools in operation today, with plans for setting up at least 20 more across Tamil Nadu. These schools are set up with the intention of equipping rural children with the skills, knowledge and confidence to make it in life. Given that speaking English and computer literacy are basic to life in the 21st century, the school uses English as the medium of education and supplements class work with video-based as well computer-based learning. Since English medium schools are not entitled to state funding, Isha depends primarily on donations in addition to modest fees from parents.

We have visited many government-run as well as private schools, but what struck us at the Isha schools was the atmosphere of fun, curiosity, energy and enthusiasm. The teachers were committed and well trained, supporting children to help them learn at their own pace. Undoubtedly, these schools will produce capable students with basic life skills as well as a love of life-long learning.

Isha Home School:

The Home School, at the Isha Yoga Centre, is comparable to a top-notch international school, with children paying full fees. Students are assigned to “houses” where house parents (typically a husband-wife couple) take care of them in all ways. Each house is a complete floor with dorms for boys and girls and a common area where children assemble for learning.

Up to 5th standard, the class follows the Montessori method – combining children of different ages and providing tools to kindle each child’s innate urge to learn rather than imposing information or knowledge in traditional lecture-dominated instruction.

Afternoon sessions are focused on arts, crafts and sports. Beyond class 5, the students go to classes by subjects, with exposure to examinations only in time for the Board exams. According to Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, the visionary behind Isha Vidhya, “We will make sure the child is exposed to every little thing in life. He should know how to fix a bicycle. He should know how to milk a cow - he should know everything”.

Interestingly, the Home School does not allow computers in classes, relying instead on traditional methods of library research. The house parent we met said that these kids all have access to their own computers and already know how to Google any subject; it’s more valuable to teach them alternative, more creative paths of research. There is no doubt that Isha Home School will give its students the solid foundation they require to be the best they can in life – being productive, responsible and contributing members of the world.

Sanskriti:

Based on the traditional Indian model of ‘Gurukulas’, Sanskriti is a completely different model of intensive and extensive education aimed at promoting excellence in different fields. We couldn’t visit this school ourselves but were briefed by one of the Isha Home School house parents whose daughter is a Sanskriti student.

The kids here are subject to a rigorous schedule of early morning yoga and meditation, combined with traditional subjects like language, math, science and social studies. Hands-on experience in agriculture, dairy farming, along with intensive training in music, dance and arts, make this a unique and exclusive educational experience. All in all, Isha Vidhya is truly innovative in its choice of models and is making a mark in the field of education in India. The New Constructs is an initiative to leverage Connected Intelligence in realizing the Connected Age. Do you have any unique schooling models to share? Do post your own examples on the Wall.

Fashion Models Carrer

The model who describes fashion as being in the most 'comfortable state' also believes that fashion is not about going over the top. Preeti Dhata is one lass who maintains a style statement that is edgy but yet colourful. Like any other bubbly girl, she also loves to go for movies, read books and indulges in gossip every now and then! Arguably the next big thing in the world of modelling, she gets candid in conversation with Stylekandy.com.
Your early days. It all started with a metro ride, I was travelling by the metro and met a photographer who told me that I could make a career in modelling. I took it as a joke but I think that incident triggered it all. Best thing about being a model? Without any doubts, it has to be the travelling! It's a lot of fun hanging out with other models in a different city. In addition to that, we are in a field of fashion which is ever changing so I never bored.

Your style statement….Edgy yet colourful, I like short sweet dresses. But at the same time I have a good collection of various kinds of pants that I like to team up with funky shirts and gladiators or heels in footwear. I like things that are not too bizarre, but they should not be too boring also… Your fitness regime…Like many models, I'm not that blessed with a perfect figure, so I do have to maintain a lot. In order to stay in shape, I always try to follow a good and nutritious diet, and hit the gym 2-3 times a week.

Your beauty secret…I think using good skin products that suits your skin type and a good diet is every model´s beauty secret and mine is no different. What appeals to you more – walking the ramp or posing for print ads? They both are very different from each other but I like print, it gains more points because these days the shoots are not simple, they are very creative, thematic and challenging.

Do you agree that models are used as a hanger? This holds true only if models choose to be used as hangers. In my case, I don't think I am used as a mere hanger. Do you think that the Indian modelling industry has grown from past few years? The credit goes to whom? Fashion fraternity has really worked hard in bringing the industry to the position where it is now. Our designers have shown in Paris Fashion Week recently and have brought Indian fashion to international limelight.
I think they are the major contributors to the immense growth that our industry has witnessed. Carrying the right look or the right attitude – Choose. I will go for both. It's like you cannot survive, if you lack either of them. It is most important to have an attitude that sets you apart from any other good looking face. Your favourite designer…Internationally, I love Karl Lager feld, Marc Jacobs… there are too many. Among the Indian designers.
I like Gaurav Gupta, Rohit Bal, Tarun Tahiliani, Savio Jon…it's so hard to name just one. Your take on foreign models getting preferences in the Indian fashion weeks? Ah…I would say it totally depends on the look of the season. If designers feel that foreign models will fit into their theme, then it's totally their decision. Yeah…but I would like it if we get to see more Indian faces on ramp.

How do you cope with all the pressure and competition? I just do my work, focus on it rather than thinking about the competition. Tell us something, which most people don't know about? I have a secret crush on Milind Soman! (well, don't all girls do?) What next for you after modeling? Don't know yet, still have not thought about it. But I'm sure that it will not be something boring for me.

Evidence-Based Practices to Behavioral Health

The Chronic Care Model (CCM) has also been adapted by The National Program Office for Depression in Primary Care (http://www.wpic.pitt.edu/dppc/), to develop a clinical framework for all partnering organizations to follow. Its Flexible Blueprint was developed after a review of published interventions used to treat depression, interviews with a variety of primary care physicians, mental health specialists and other experts in the field, and selected site visits to view elements of the Chronic Care Model in action.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is supporting the Implementing Evidence Based Practices Project. This project is focused on people who have severe mental illness; these people are most frequently served in the public mental health system (http://www.mentalhealthpractices.org/).

There are six areas that have been researched. Toolkits have been developed based on the multi-state demonstrations that have been underway. The six areas are described below, based on the website materials:

Illness Management and Recovery -

This is a program of weekly sessions where specially trained MH practitioners help people develop personal strategies for coping with mental illness and moving forward in their lives. The program emphasizes helping people set and pursue personal goals and become better able to realize their vision of recovery.

Medication Management Approaches In Psychiatry (Medmap) -

This focuses on using medication in a systematic and effective way, providing guidelines and steps for decision-making based on current evidence and outcomes, monitoring and recording information about medication results, and involving consumers in the decision-making process.

Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) -

This program is for people who experience the most severe symptoms of mental illness. The goal is to help people stay out of the hospital and develop skills for living in the community. Services are provided by a team of practitioners, are available whenever and wherever needed, 24-hours a day, and are provided for as long as they are wanted and needed.

Family Psychoeducation -

This involves a strong partnership between consumers, families and supporters, and practitioners. People work toward recovery by developing better skills for overcoming everyday problems and illness-related issues, developing social support, and improving communication with treatment providers.

Supported Employment -

This is a well-defined approach to helping people with mental illness find and keep competitive employment. These programs are for anyone who expresses the desire to work. The programs are staffed by employment specialists who work with the treatment team to integrate services. They help people look for jobs soon after entering the program, and provide support as long as consumers want the assistance.

Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment -

This treatment approach is for people who have mental illness and addiction disorders, offering mental health and substance abuse services together, in one setting, at the same time. A wide variety of services are offered in a stage-wise fashion because some services are important early in treatment, while others are important later on.

The EBPs described above are intended for use in the public mental health system, serving people with severe mental illness; they are not diagnosis specific. The American Association of Community Psychiatrists (http://www.wpic.pitt.edu/aacp/default.htm) has released guidelines, such as Guidelines for Recovery Oriented Services that also address this target population rather than a diagnosis specific population.

The American Psychiatric Association has developed diagnosis specific practice guidelines (http://www.psych.org/) that are applicable in a wide variety of settings, as have other professional groups. The following list of behavioral healthcare guidelines and protocols is from the National Guideline Clearinghouse:
  • Adjustment Disorders
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Delirium, Dementia, Amnestic, Cognitive Disorders
  • Dissociative Disorders
  • Eating Disorders
  • Factitious Disorders
  • Impulse Control Disorders
  • Mental Disorders Diagnosed in Childhood
  • Mood Disorders
  • Neurotic Disorders
  • Personality Disorders
  • Schizophrenia and Disorders with Psychotic Features
  • Sexual and Gender Disorders

London Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2010

Let me take you on a quick tour to view some of the exhibits at London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2010

Purrfect - Clements Ribeiro SS10 showcase in the Portico Rooms

“What’s New Pussycat?” played in the background whilst Clements Ribeiro’s models posed in classic black & white embellished with cat motifs for a feline inspired theme. Skirts and dresses were knee length whilst the bubble style shorts were short. Smedley Sea Island cotton joined the signature Scottish cashmere and French silks for this season. Soft pinks, yellows and blues added a touch of colour; stripes were prominent and the prints used were leopard or a swirl of pink, blue & yellow cats.  Black organza fans with zips as stems were inspired by Japanese landscape washes and looked stunning against white silk gazar and faille.  Zips also appeared on the cat motifs to give a hard edge and to accentuate their eyes – making you aware that this quietly purring sexy kitty can also show her claws.

Heads up on the Mad Hatters!

Piers Atkinson had “Sex on the Brain” for his SS10 theme. He went bananas on some of his designs: “Andi” – banana felt hat with glitter detail; “Josephine”- leather with antique banana ornaments; “Andrew Logan for Piers Atkinson” – glittered pillbox with mirrored banana; banana headband with dolly.

J Smith Esquire's SS10 collection titled "Light" included a glamorous and dishevelled creation called "ostrich" made of a boa wig with a sliver encrusted neck corset. “Light” was inspired by shipwrecked treasures and beachcombed relics.

Little Shilpa’s creations fuses the two worlds of Mumbai and London together, with references from the London Underground , Bombay markets and maddening traffic jams (both cities). One design is of a giant blue bow festooned with multi coloured bangles. Another mixes military tassels with Maharaja Ornamentation.

Stephen Jones’s “ABC” SS10 collection is inspired by Art, Beauty & Commerce. The art of Japan, the beauty of France and the commerce of America. Designs include: “Sayoko”- pleated straw hat; “Ayumi” – origami crin flower; “Hideka” – cellophane straw coolie with veil and leather flowers, “Je ne sais quoi” –straw and satin bicorne with rose; “Soixante-neuf” – jersey and straw rose pillbox. No prizes for guessing the countries.

Head over heels in love with the shoes:

This is Sonya Parenti’s debut collection and as she loves the dreamlike erotic essence of Noir films from the fifties, her SS10 collection can be described as dark and sexy. One of the Newgen winners this year is Michael Lewis whose SS10 collection was inspired by:  Early Kenzo, Russian fairytales (especially Baboushka) and Ray Caeser. All the way from Iceland is the shoe company Kron. Their SS10 collection sees a mix of colours; suede and leather; frills and bows; chunky high heels all put together to make an eye catching shoe. Maybe not sexy, but definitely girly and fun.

It’s what’s underneath that counts in the Lingerie Boudoir. Miss Lala Presents went all cute with polka dots and bows in stretchy satin. Dirty Pretty Things went pretty in pink, but dirty in the bondage mask and Buttress & Snatch went all soft and feminine with this pure silk, satin and tulle negligee trimmed with vintage velvet flowers.

Handbags at Dawn

Antoni & Alison SS10 collection went all glamorous and Hollywood for their famous screen tests theme. The handbag label Rocio wanted “to create a collection of handbags that would return fashion to the arts”. These handbags are handmade from the finest sustainable acacia softwood and come embellished in gemstones, fine leathers, crystals and pearls. You certainly don’t want to hide these handbags in the back of your wardrobe.

Tamara Fogle makes bags out of antique textile such as German flour sacks, Hungarian grain sacks, military tents, sailcloth, Welsh blankets and French mattress ticking. The below bags are made of German flour sacks (date range 1830-1940’s) trimmed in chocolate brown Italian leather. The writing which is different on every sack (and so makes each bag unique) states the farmer’s name.

Ready or not, here comes the Ready- to-Wear:

Sass & Bide SS10 ready-to-wear is a collection of gold and silver embellishments on black and off white pieces. Styles included swing tops, caged dresses, gold harem pants and long low fronted pinafore dresses. Reem’s SS10 vintage collection is called “Bubble and Squeak” – mixing volume and crumble layers; silks and chiffons with punky leather and studs. Bodyamr’s SS10 collection was inspired by the clean lines of early ready- to- wear American Fashion and the colour palette of peaches, coral, aqua, silver and gold was inspired by David Hockney’s Beverly Hills pool series. Silk jersey, silk satin and liquid chiffon create fluidity in the clothes.

MFP- MariaFrancescaPepe’s SS10 collection is named “Bathing Beauties”.  The choice of fabrics used create the illusion of sea and sand : moiré- with its rippled appearance so similar to the ripples in  wet sand, silk jersey – with its fluidity for movement of water and silky jacquards reflecting light on water. Fins decorate one dress and hat whilst pieces of brass jewellery are moulded in to pleats and coated in metallic blues and greens to represent ripples in water.

Aladdin’s Cave of treasures in the jewellery

Sam Ubhi has an eclectic mixture of designs and material due to taking inspiration when visiting different countries. Nicholas King’s collection cleverly takes beads, sequins, watch faces and other creative pieces, then “preserves” them in clear resin to make chunky cuffs and necklaces. You’ll never lose a bead again!

Leju use a special Amazonian seed known as vegetable ivory as a sustainable alternative to elephant ivory. Rich colours are created by staining and dying the seed with natural plant extract and oils. This season’s collection is called “Goddess” with warmer metals of 24kt gold and copper brought in to give a softer feminine feel. Hope you enjoyed the tour. Take a break because next stop is Estethica!- the ethical part of London Fashion Week

Importance of Photographs in Modeling Portfolio

How to make a modeling portfolio?  This is the primary concern confronting those who are new to the modeling industry.  The quality of your photograph is of paramount significance in the successful presentation of your profile.  The quality of your photos can make or mar your chance of selection as a model.  Never ever use any photograph produced through amateurish process.  Never resort to any short-cuts or easy procedure.  That can spoil your chances even before you start. Make a wide-ranging enquiry to spot the best professional photographer available.  You can ask the modeling agency to get you a best photographer.  Also, you can search though the local directories, the Internet, etc.  Then visit the photographer’s place.   Tell her/him that you intend to make a modeling portfolio.  Ask about the price, the format of the photos, time for execution, etc.  Before placing an order, see some sample photographs they have done and make sure you are satisfied with the quality.

In order to ensure the quality of your portfolio photos, you need to hire a professional make-up artist also.  You can ask the photographer whether they provide make-up artists and the cost.  Having fixed the photographer and the make-up artist, you have to look for clothes and posing postures suitable for your modeling portfolio.  This you can find out from the Internet or from fashion and lifestyle publications.  You should select a variety of formal and causal looks.  If you have some other performing skills like music, you can take a shot in that pose also.

Before the photo shot for your modeling portfolio, keep your skin, nails and hair in good condition.  You should maintain a moderate and balanced diet a few days before the shot.  Abstain from alcohol during the days and have good sleep the night previous.  Before the shot, tell the photographer and the make-up artist the sort of looks you want.  Tell the photographer about the pose and posture you want.  Select the best photos for your modeling portfolio.  It is not your family album.  Don’t attach any sentiments to photos to put them in the portfolio.  Put only the photos that can “market” you.

Improper photos in your modeling portfolio can “de-market” you and your otherwise possible chances can be diminished. Don’t put in your portfolio photos that are older than one year.  If you are publishing your modeling profile and portfolio, provide sufficient data, statistics and information. It will facilitate the assessment of your suitability for particular projects.  Keep your modeling profile and portfolio updated periodically.
