India Couture Week Day 1
HDIL india couture week an event people were fervently awaiting; and when it arrived, those present were nothing less than inundated. Though people were a bit apprehensive as it was raining cats and dogs on day 1 of the HDIL India Couture Week, the event couldn't have had a better start than an opulent Ritu Kumar show. It evident that, Kumar had geared up to enchant the audience by her collection, come rain or shine.
Indian diva of fashion designing, Ritu Kumar, marked her 40 years in the Indian fashion fraternity by opening the country's first ever indigenous 'Couture Week' on September 16 at Grand Hyatt, Mumba Opening the couture week with a bang, the ace designer put together a retrospective anniversary collection with a blend of classical designs and modern twists. A beauty beyond praise, Priyanka Chopra was dressed in a red 24 kali ornate lehenga with intricate embroidery and an emerald green short sweetheart neckline choli with churi sleeves made up of net.

A beauty beyond praise, Priyanka Chopra was dressed in a red 24 kali ornate lehenga with intricate embroidery and an emerald green short sweetheart neckline choli with churi sleeves made up of net.
An exquisite work of traditional embroidery in the front and back epitomized this unique oh-so-sexy choli with a curve-hugging fit. Hemline was beautifully done with tassels (ghunghru). Fully sequined dupatta enhanced the look of the dress. She stole the heart immediately with her typical bollwood jhatka matka style like kajra-re hairstyle and a teeka. Ritu also had Neha Dhupia in traditional look trying to cash her Julie look, the big bindi, cleavage-showing choli and purple dupatta. It seemed that Ritu was very much inspired by the traditional Indian paisley and prominent use of brocade. Riya Sen's golden choli with deep neckline and Raima Sen's tunic with Rajasthan-inspired motif was an astonishing creation of Ritu Kumar.

I really love my...
..black studded vest. I think the beauty of the vest is lost on a black outfit. It looks crisp and smart when worn with a white outfit.
.. DVF clutch. Looks like its Tisca's go-to clutch for pale white outfits! Cant blame her - its pretty cute. Since its a neutral shade, it can be worn with any colored outfit - giving you more bang for your buck.
Weekend Roundup
Where: Launch of her production house
That outfit is flawless!! Gorgeous color, perfect fit and beautiful draping! A better hairdo and some transparent Lucite bangles would have knocked it out of the ballpark but considering Ameesha past outfits, have to say she is perfect here!
Where: Album launch
Love Neha's lip color but her foundation color seems to be incorrect. The outfit could have worked if the skirt had been executed properly.
Where: Farah Ali khan's store opening, Launch of Ameesha's prduction house
Suzanne deftly mixed a pair of pleat-front pants with a purple strapless silk blouse resulting in a light and lovely look. Paired with matchy shoes and brown clutch, she looks chic and polished. Cant say the same about her boring black/white maternity outfit! Also, Suzanne really needs to fix her hair!

Great colors and I would love to see how Natasha incorporated tassels (hot trend!) into her belt.

The daily grind
Where: Launch of Great Indian wedding carnival
Kareena razzles and dazzles at the launch of the Great Indian wedding carnival. The orange/pink saree is a little OTT but considering the event, she might be under-dressed:P Hate her glossy hair!
Never thought this day would come where Esha would be better dressed than Neha! Her outfit is simple but any day better than what Neha and Raageshwari wore.
Where: Johnnie Walker bash
Bhavna looks polished and very ladylike in neutral tones. I like the way she styled it with gold accessories - it adds glamor without being overwhelming.

Spotted around town.
Who: Priyanka Chopra
Where: "Saat Khoon Maaf" promos
We have been seeing this silhouette a lot lately and I have mixed feelings about it. It always looks like the person has tied a cape around the waist. The color is beautiful against her skin tone and the shoes also work but it will take me sometime to get around this style.
Who: Sushmita Sen
Where: Marigold Fine art event
Who: Chitrangada Singh
Where: "Lets Design" finals
Its great to see celebs embracing bright bold colors. Chitrangada looks gorgeous in a red, strapless grecian gown. The only issue with this style is that you look pregnant if the photographer catches you at the wrong angle!
Who: Neha Dhupia
Where: Elle cup and IIFA promotional event
Neha in a lace dress at an event. I am trying to figure out whats goin on near her neck area. It looks very clumsy and spoils the dress. Doesn't the reflection in her sunglasses give her alien eyes?
Who: Shradda Kapoor
Where: Elle cup and IIFA promotional event
Bold color, great dress and an overpowering hairstyle! The ends of her plait looks like rat tails and all I can think about is that she has some dead animal on her head!!

Red Carpet Event:Stardust awards 2011
Anushka is elegant and lethal in a beautifully draped dress. I havent seen Anushka in a gown and she looks incredibly alluring in this color. Thankfully, she didnt add any necklace and kept it simple with silver earrings.
Sonakshi does love this style since she already owns this dress in mustard yellow. The pulled back hair, silver pumps - all give it a very sophisticated, chic look. Two thumbs up to the lovely color.

Amrita wore a dusty pink, bodycon dress. I think the dress is rather cute with the over-sized flower but not happy with her shoe choice.
Its impossible to get a clear picture of what Mehr is wearing since she is clinging to her husband in very shot. Seeing how delicious Arjun looks, I can hardly blame her!
Twinkle wore an asymmetrical silver dress, teamed with silver shoes and earrings. I wish she had gone one size up becoz right now she looks tightly wrapped in a silver foil!

Like the streamlined look of Suzanne's dress and its a pity we cant clearly see the McQueen skull clutch.
Prachi - OMG, who did this to you??It should be a crime for anyone to step out in such a horrific outfit.
Shraddha - The skirt is very interesting and would have worked with a simple tank top. The clutch is too shiny for me.

Neha wore a yellow/black Shane and Falguni outfit. Its a very striking dress and I think she does justice to this dress with her sleek, shiny hair and smokey eyes.
I love everything about Sophie's dress but wish someone more interesting had worn it.

Black/gold is a very safe and boring combination on the red carpet. But the addition of the red blouse/top, upgrades this look. Smart choice, Rani.
I like how Sonali added a skinny belt to her red saree resulting in a silhouette different from a normal saree. I just wished she had worn a less glitzy top.
Kajol is one of my favorite actress but her dress choices really confound me!

A post of few words...
Where: Ceat cricket awards
This outfit could have worked but for the bizarre embellishment on her bust.
Where: "Chak Dhoom Dhoom" show
Isnt her anarkali just Divine? White/gold is my favorite combination and I like the way the deisgner added a layer of net - makes the whole outfit look ethereal. Anushka's slender, narrow frame gives it a lovely air of femininity.
Where: Neeta Lulla-ING card launch
Where: "Yeh Saali Zindagi" premiere
This has to be the most fanciest tissue dispenser I have ever seen! A rare misstep by the gorgeous Chitrangada.
Where: Zakir Hussain concert
This outfit is perfect example of one great piece (top) can totally elevate your look.

Red Carpet Event: Filmfare awards 2011(Part 1)
Looks like someone read our blogpost and took our advice! Sonakshi, finally in something that is youthful and bright. The color and the draping is just gorgeous and I love her cascading curls. The fresh look just hit the right note for the occasion. Congrats on winning the best debut of the year for 'Dabaang'.
Genezlia - Other than the color, there is nothing I like here.
On the fence for Neha's dress. The color and style is pretty neat but somehow the outfit falls flat and really doesn't excite me.

Rani - This is the only pic available and can I just say WOW!! Love the way the fabric falls. The blue really compliments her skin color and the look is just tres magnifique!
Sridevi- Great color, great outfit but the creases are so bad that it distracts and completely takes away the beauty of the dress.
Not a big fan of Prachi but have to say she looks cute with the side plait. As for the dress, the bottom part could be used as a toilet brush, no?
Malaika - This woman is flawless. She only has one look - the cougar look and dayum, she has perfected it!!

Finally, someone in scarlet red!! Both are great dresses - Amrita's dress is beautifully tailored (love the pleats on the bodice) and Suzanne has sexy draping. Suzzane went a little overboard with matching accessories and red hair so this one goes to Amrita.
Even though her clutch color is a little jarring, I like Mugdha with her shiny, slick hair. She looks chic and sassy.
Sameera - This is how a dress designed by a 'split-personality soap-opera character' would look like - loud, loud and so OTT!!

Who wore it better?
Where: (L) Indian Princess nominations, (R) 2010 appearance
Payal wore a plaid dress with a multi-tiered necklace for the "Indian Princess" nomination rounds. It reminded me of the houndstooth dress that Neha had worn in 2010 to shortlist the Femina Ms India finalists. Very similar looks but very different shoes. Is this the "go-to" outfit for beauty pageant judges:-)
Who rocks the dress and necklace combo better?
