MONEY MAGNETS

One of the souvenirs we have from the Husb' travels to MANY countries over the years is a huge bag of random leftover money.  Currency from each country that was practically unusable as it consists of mostly random coins and doesn't amount to much - in the way of an amount that would make sense to exchange for our local currency.

We moved the bag-o-money from Georgia to Ohio ... and back to Georgia the summer before we left (and Mimi helped me separate it all into country sections - labeled and baggied ... and then moved it with us to Delhi.

We have the typical currency -- Mexico, Canada .. even English Pounds.  But we also have some more obscure currency --

Even this pile o' money that we can't easily identify ::

One of the friends we made here in Delhi had these great "money magnets" on their fridge ... and it dawned on me ... that we could do the same.  In their case, their money magnets represented the places they (as a family) had lived ... while our money collection would represent where Daddy-O had been.

Husb brought back magnet strips from the United States on his last business trip there ... as we could not locate it here in Delhi ... and recently Little Miss and I set to work.

We decided against a hot glue gun, since the adhesive on the magnet strips seemed to work well enough.  We created - - in a matter of minutes - - some fun MONEY MAGNETS!

What was precious about this little project is that I assumed the money magnets would be used to hold photos of our friends and family ... or maybe keep the menu plan for the week steady on the fridge.

What I didn't anticipate was Little Missy Moo using the money magnets for educational purposes.  Sorting the coins with flowers.  Counting the coins that had the same numbers on them.  Making artistic designs with them.

Even if you don't have currency from across the globe, I'd encourage you to make some Money Magnets with your family ... what a fun project!
