Lawn Wars - Maria B & Nadia Hussain’s Signature Lawn


While we may still be in coats and boots battling the cold weather in Pakistan a war rages within the the the lawn business, which is growing more and more every year.

With everyone wanting a piece of the pie, designers are looking at news ways to entice customers..




Last week Maria B, launched her lawn collection in Karachi, Sharing details of her collection, she said “It’s ready-to-go lawn, which offers 10 designs with three colour variations. Hence, 30 new prints in a stitched and unstitched lawn collection.” but why the move to stitched lawn she said: “We are the pioneers in bringing stitched lawn in the market. It is for the people who are sick and tired of going to tailors, who never stitch on time. Secondly, it is most definitely a collection for working women too. The brand has chosen model Amna Ilyas as its cover girl, whose styling has been done by Asmaa Mumtaz.

Not one to be left behind, Model Nadia Hussain has put out her very own lawn collection. aptley titled Nadia Hussain’s Signature Lawn Collection 2011. The collection made use of vibrant prints on fabric and toyed with a range of colours that ran from dark hues to spring pastels.  “Mostly, my designs are either floral, or have booti on it or a jaal (repeating small motifs) design on it,” added Hussain.


When asked about the lawn wars that seem to have taken the city by storm, Hussain replied saying, “I didn’t realise it would be such a massive war this year. Since December 2010, I tried approaching other designers like HSY, Yasir Waheed, Gul AhmedNomi Ansari, Deepak Perwani and Umer Sayeed and they all said that they were busy doing their own lawn collection this year.”

Only time will tell who will inevitably win this year’s lawn battle...
