We had originally planned to start classes right off the bat and introduce ourselves to the students, split them up into their appropriate group and dive right in.
One teacher though wisely suggested that it might be better for us AND the students if we provided an icebreaker of sorts. A casual and laidback forum to get to know each other a bit better ... and dispel some of their fears and nervousness BEFORE we needed to jump into the academics.

Sundar ... who has quickly become a favorite in the Level I classroom.
Aakaash - in the middle - is in my class. The students were all quite nervous when they realized that they might not necessarily be in a class with their best buds. These three stayed together until the bitter end when we handed out the nametags that denoted which class they were to be in.
Pinky - in the red v-necked sweater, Sanjana in the green/yellow stripes and Sangeeta in the red sweater and jeans. All three girls are in our class and boy, are they precious.
Sally, welcoming all of the new students and explaining the classes ... and who would be in which class.
Our students ... in their room for the first time ... with my co-teachers. We figured a great ice breaker for all of us would be to simply color!
After some time introducing ourselves, playing a get to know you game, and coloring ... it was time to say goodbye. Our kids' enthusiasm, joy and excitement was contagious!
