I love bright colors but something about the style/fabric makes the hot pinkish red look cheap and garish. A "bridesmaid-attends-80s-prom" dress and it goes firmly in the “start over” column.

Suzanne kept it simple in a very feminine and flattering LBD in a classic silhouette - a close-fitted bodice and full-flare skirt nipped with a skinny belt. The pleating on the sleeve and tiers on the skirt add a new twist to the old classic. Love!

Who: Preity Zinta
Where: Suzanne Khan "Charcoal project"

Love is blind, so is adoration:-) I refuse to see Preity's washed out face or her common-place front-ruffle dress. I think she just rocks!!

Katrina succeeded in doing the impossible - making florals look as dull as the ditch water. And as if the dress wasn't depressing enough, Katrina paired it with drab brown accessories.
Twinkle also wore some dull colors but by adding a bright green bag and layered gold necklace, she totally elevated her outfit. All hail the queen of accessorizing!!

Wow, Shilpa's body is a work of art! Just one question - how do you sit in that dress or more importantly, breath?

A wraparound dress and a tulip hemline - both are my favorites and no wonder, I love Sophie's outfit. The color is great and I like her choice of accessories.

Who: Gauri Khan, Farah Ali Khan

Is that really you, Gauri? Gauri in something that is not bright orange, OTT or blinding us! And she is looking good! Gauri is hip and trendy in a masculine pants worn with a very feminine halter top. I just hope she keeps it up.
Farah also looks trendy in her slim cigarette pants worn with a loose white top and teamed with red clutch and red lips. Not sure about her hairstyle - I think its too teenagerish for such a sophisticated outfit.

Rani - Whoa, why is she so orange?Is she preparing to be a pumpkin in her next movie?
Genelia - Lacy leggings with a sheer blouse?? No one is that cute enough to make such an outfit work!
Sonali - She is having a serious relationship with bib necklaces and I am not complaining!

Best Dressed of the Month - Jan'11

First, a big welcome to my new readers. And of course, I am grateful for all of you who keep coming back, too:-)

Just some background on the "Best Dressed of the Month" post. At the end of each month, I go through all the comments and select the best "liked" four outfits. We do a poll and the winner goes to our "Hall of Fame". Do check out our past winners! (on the right side of the blog)

January was the awards season, so it was impossible to choose only four. Still I was able to narrow it down to nine outfits. The nominees are:

Who: Sonakshi Sinha, Katrina Kaif, Chitrangada Singh

Who: Urmila, Urmila, Malaika Arora Khan

Events: Imran Khan's wedding reception

Who: Kiran Rao, Ursual from The little mermaid

Is it just me or does anyone else see the resemblance between Kiran's skirt and Ursula's tentacles? I always figured Kiran was an alien:-) Her dressing sense is out of this world (geddit, geddit??)

Who: Sonakshi Sinha, Katrina Kaif, Vidya Balan

Sonakshi and Katrina are elegant in their incredibly delicate anarkalis. I really like the color contrast of the deep red bodice in the Tarun Tahiliani outfit that Katrina is wearing.
Vidya wore a Sabyasachi anarkali to the event. No the anarkali and her crimped hair.

Who: Twinkle Khanna, Preity Zinta, Suzanne Khan

Twinkle is a knockout in her bright pink dress. Not only is the color gorgeous but I also like the cut of her beautifully tailored outfit. Perfectly paired with brown peep-toes and gold layered necklace.
Preity - Looking pretty as always!!
I am surprised to see Suzanne in a Ritu Kumar which has been previously seen on Neha Dhupia as well as on Diana Haydon. Its a pretty outfit but I can only see it so many times:-)

Who: Madhuri, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra

I like Madhuri's color combination. Not sure about her clutch or shoes..
Deepika always looks good when she is not in a bridesmaid dress.
The design and embroidery of Priyanka's outfit give it a very tacky effect. I also feel this kind of long top only looks good in anarkali style.

Who: Gauri Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherjee, Genelia D'souza

Gauri in an outfit that is not OTT and harsh orange in color. How did this happen?
Kareena sparkles and shines in a net saree with glittering sequins. The sequins are really the star of this outfit elevating a basic black saree. It also helps that gorgeous Kareena is wearing it..
Rani wore a Sabyasachi saree. Not a big fan of this mustard yellow color.
Genelia wore a great color but she looks under-dressed for the event.

Who: Ameesha Patel, Anushka Sharma

What a surprise - Ameesha in a outfit that is not attention-seeking!! I hope she keeps it up.
Anushka wore a short grey dress with sequins and kept her makeup and accessories minimal. The dress, though not a knockout, is pretty and flattering. She paired the dress with smart black shoes.

Red Carpet Event: Filmfare awards 2011(Part 2)

Who: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

No surprises here - was pretty sure Aishwarya will be in a saree. Just surprised that its not ugly or OTT!! The saree is very elegant and Aish looks graceful.

Who: Katrina Kaif

Katrina wore a Manish Malhotra creation which is stupendously beautiful! It looks like she walked off the ramp into the event:-) Given that the outfit is so blingy, Katrina kept her makeup and accessories minimal. Also surprised to her "girls" since Katrina rarely does cleavage..

Who: Preity Zinta

I am incapable of making an objective judgment here, becoz of my overwhelming affection for Preity Zinta:-)

Who: Vidya Balan, Dia Mirza

Any guess as to who Vidya is wearing:-)
The outfit doesnt need such a statement necklace and her hair isnt winning her any points today.

Dia kept it simple in a black saree (not sure if its a saree or lengha) with a lace top. Her top has a very unusual design. Close ups are below.

I do love the lace-y, sexy look but the the back is a little creepy - looks like the saree is coming out of her body!!

Who: Urmila Matondkar, Esha Koppikar, Mini Mathur

Urmila - Another Manish Malhotra creation. This guy certainly has a hold on the celebs:-)

Esha - Even though this look is simple, its one of her best looks. The rest of the times, she come across as trying too hard.

Mini - Love this woman's style. She is always looks effortlessly chic!

Who: Kajol, Kalki Koechlin

In case of any emergency, we all can use Kajol's oufit to parachute to safety!

Kalki has a quirky style but this is not quirky - this is what every starlet on a cheap budget wears! Dont loose ur individualism, Kalki - Fire the person who suggested this to you!

As we keep approaching Fall combination of reds and black colors saris are everyones favorite to wear at night events.


Katrina Kaif here is wearing a red Saree with gold sequins and golden blue and reddish embroidered pallu border all over. A sleeveless Sari Blouse and heavy earings.

Nothing looks better then colorful bangles on Sleeveless Saree Blouse. Of course with so much variety in colors and fabrics at Zeenat the "Looking Perfect Possibilities" are endless.

Katrina, the lady with beauty and fame seen in a stylish Saree. She's dipped in elegant pink shades with a sprinkle of silver. Blouse is draped and attached with a silver ornament at her front. While the pallu and borders edges are adorned with Silver lace, which truly look fancy yet mindblowing.

Katrina's Saree is of Net Fabric, stiched very finely. Along with this her Blouse seems very elegant which have a silver lace on its sweetheart neckline. Katrina used to wear pink dresses but no doubt this one looks awesome on her.

Sleeveless blue blouse with matching pallu/border. While her waistline and pallu corners are finely finished with golden zari. Katrina is now the most cutest and charming actress of bollywood. Her outfits are always amazing, mostly she looks hot in Saree.

Katrina Kaif spotted at Salman Khan's apartment just looking a beauty in White. She's in Crepe Georgette saree with some Silver embellishments. The pallu borders are laced in thin sequins silver lace, moreover her blouse is in draped style without sleeves and having the same lace on it.


Katrina is also wearing flat heels on this dress as she's already tall so flat and short heels suits her very well.

Her blouse is stiched in velvet fabric with strap/half-cap beaded sleeves. While her pallu/border is see through, having embellishments all over its corners. Katrina looks very classy and ravishing hear.

Making elegant poses for the photoshoot. Saree is finely embroidered all over, specially the pallu border and waistline is embellished in silver, like it has some lace work on it, also hanging some small tassels on the pallu.


Besides this the blouse is simple pink with rhinestones strap sleeves which adds very classy looks to Katrina.

Neck up she is looking pretty but the colors of her outfit are drab and dull. Even her beautiful smile cant save the dress.

Life is so simple when you just wear three colors - red, white and black, no?
Katrina is back in white, in an outfit that is too bridal. Take the sleeves out, add a belt and some sexy shoes (loubs) and maybe - nope, even that cant fix the dress!

Two Pretty Young Things in snooze worthy dresses that most probably cost two months rent!

What will she wear?

We are midway thru the bollywood awards season and heading towards the Filmfare awards which will take place on Jan 29th. The Filmfare awards are Hindi film industry's equivalent of the Oscar. So expect to see all the babes in all their finery and glory. The burning question, at least for me, is what will they wear?

Today, we look at Katrina and Deepika. We have already picked out gowns for Sonakshi and Priyanka. Check them out here. If only, they would take our advice:-)

Katrina wears way too much white but surprisingly goes for the jugular in red/pink for red carpet events. White stands for purity and innocence whereas red is bold and sexy. hmm, split personality? Who cares! Here are my picks.

Deepika Padukone

Whether you like her or not, there is no denying that Deepika has one of the best bodies in town and can rock any runway look. Unfortunately, she has a predilection for prom/bridesmaid dresses and tacky gowns. She mainly wears black, nude, blush and silver colors. Gold- bronze colors suit her best. Most of my picks are in Deepika's comfort zone but play on her love for draping.

Red Carpet Event: Apsara awards 2011

Who: Katrina Kaif

Stunning. Flattering. An exquisitely-made saree. Love the deep red, dainty velvet blouse. Katrina owns the red carpet.

Who: Vidya Balan

No surprises here. Vidya has only two dressing modes (i) Sabyasachi saree or (ii) Kurti/jeans. And did you notice, she never ever carries a handbag?? where does she keep her stuff?? Maybe she has a hot male flunkie carrying her handbag;-) Oh, the perks of being rich!!

Who: Aishwarya Rai

If there were rumors going around about me being replaced by a "younger model" for a brand that I have represented since 2005, I would totally speed dial Rachel Zoe and "shut down" the red carpet at every event. Instead, Aishwarya looks inspid in this Manish Malhotra anarkali. Beautiful woman, always in wrong clothes.
