Weekend Roundup

Who: Mallika Sherwat
Where: White House correspondents dinner

Yes, you read it right. Mallika was at the White house correspondents dinner! She was pictured with Russel Simmons so not sure if she was his plus one. And she was decently dressed too!! I know - can this day get more exciting?!

Love Mallika's makeup and the gorgeously embellished bodice but not sure why she stuck a hula dancer's skirt to her hemline? But she attended one of the most sought-after event in Washington D.C and that all that counts.

Who: Priyanka Chopra
Where: MTV event

Just one word: Ghastly!

Who: Farah Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Mehr Rampal
Where: Maheep Kapoor's Bday

I love how Farah paired black with jewel toned green clutch and gold shoes. Karisma wore a rather inspid black dress and the only interesting thing is her jeweled clutch. Mehr is cute in her babydoll dress but she really needs some accessories and loads of makeup.

Who: Sridevi, Sonali Bendre
Where: Maheep Kapoor's bday

Sridevi - I cant put my finger on it but something here does not work for me.
Sonali - Awesome color, beautiful woman but shapless dress.

Who: Bhavna Pandey, Surily Goel
Where: Maheep Kapoor's bday

Both, Bhavna and Surily, paired white with gold and they look polished. Cool outfits for summer although Surily's dress resembles a negligee a little bit. Which could be a bad thing or a good thing;-)

Weekend Roundup

Who: Sonam Kapoor
Where: Shahid Kapoor bday bash

Bed-sheet tied up with string or lovely grecian dress ?? You decide.

Who: Suzanne Khan
Where: At her "Charcoal project"

Suzanne kept it simple in a very feminine and flattering LBD in a classic silhouette - a close-fitted bodice and full-flare skirt nipped with a skinny belt. The pleating on the sleeve and tiers on the skirt add a new twist to the old classic. Love!

Who: Preity Zinta
Where: Suzanne Khan "Charcoal project"

Love is blind, so is adoration:-) I refuse to see Preity's washed out face or her common-place front-ruffle dress. I think she just rocks!!

Who: Katrina Kaif, Twinkle Khanna
Where: Suzanne Khan "Charcoal project"

Katrina succeeded in doing the impossible - making florals look as dull as the ditch water. And as if the dress wasn't depressing enough, Katrina paired it with drab brown accessories.
Twinkle also wore some dull colors but by adding a bright green bag and layered gold necklace, she totally elevated her outfit. All hail the queen of accessorizing!!

Who: Shilpa Shetty, Sophie Choudry
Where: Suzanne Khan "Charcoal project"

Wow, Shilpa's body is a work of art! Just one question - how do you sit in that dress or more importantly, breath?

A wraparound dress and a tulip hemline - both are my favorites and no wonder, I love Sophie's outfit. The color is great and I like her choice of accessories.

Who: Gauri Khan, Farah Ali Khan
Where: Suzanne Khan "Charcoal project"

Is that really you, Gauri? Gauri in something that is not bright orange, OTT or blinding us! And she is looking good! Gauri is hip and trendy in a masculine pants worn with a very feminine halter top. I just hope she keeps it up.
Farah also looks trendy in her slim cigarette pants worn with a loose white top and teamed with red clutch and red lips. Not sure about her hairstyle - I think its too teenagerish for such a sophisticated outfit.

Who: Rani Mukherjee, Genelia D'souza, Sonali Bendre
Where: Shahid Bday bash

Rani - Whoa, why is she so orange? Is she preparing to be a pumpkin in her next movie?
Genelia - Lacy leggings with a sheer blouse?? No one is that cute enough to make such an outfit work!
Sonali - She is having a serious relationship with bib necklaces and I am not complaining!

Events: Farah Ali Khan bday party

Who: Dia Mirza

Dia in a cutesy, diaphanous LBD teamed with gold accessories. Love the overall look but didn't quite like her necklace on close-up. Its soo last season - Looks like Santa skipped someone's house:-)

Who: Farah Ali Khan

The birthday girl also wore a LBD and she topped it off with a dazzling emerald earrings. This pairing reminds me of Angelina @ Oscars 2009.

Between the two LBDs, I liked Farah's better since I am not a big fan of co-ordinating one's accessories..

Who: Queenie Dhody

Is this how we are wearing sari's nowdays? The sari is gorgeous and I like the gold top/blouse with the contrasting pattern but its going to take me sometime to get used to this way of draping. And the necklace is just too much - Queenie with more bling than a Xmas tree.

Who: Amisha Patel

Wow, I really thought we will have world peace wa-a-y before Amisha *cough* cover *cough* cleans ups her act. Whoever fixed this needs to report to the UN peacekeeping force ASAP!!

Events: Farah Khan Store Launch

I am going to be very lazy today and just posts the looks at this event. You guys tell me who was the best-dressed at the event and who needs to go to fashion rehab? I liked Dia and Farah and Amrita needs a stylist asap:-)

Left: Amrita Arora, Center: Isha Koppikar, Right: Ekta Raheja

HDIL couture week - Celebs on day 4

Left: Sonakshi Sinha, Right: Malaika Arora Khan

This has to be the best appearance by Sonakshi!I love the draping on this mustard yellow dress and how it has the right amount of volume. And with loose, curly hair, Sonakshi looks like a glam goddess..

Malaika Also wore a sunny yellow dress to the "Being Human" after party. She accessorized with gold clutch and red shoes. This is one instance where the yellow-red combination is not looking that bad.. What do you guys think?

Left: Masaba, Right: Farah Ali Khan

I like how Masaba dressed down her sequins shorts with a crisp white shirt. The orange-red shoes are perfect for a shot of color.

Farah wore a printed silk kurti with pants/churidhar and completed the look with beige clutch and pumps. I love the 70's vibe of her top and the fringe at the hemline.

Events: Dabangg premiere

Who: Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi wore a Vikram Phadnis maxi to the premiere of her first movie. She has a charming smile and isn't the embroidery on the dress gorgeous? I would have preferred the dress as anarkali with slim pants and would have done away with the ruffle/sash at the waist. The overall look is movie-star glam...Wishing her all the best!!

Who: Zarine Khan

OMG, my eyes !!! What was Zarine thinking?? The dress should have never made it out of the closet and she should have never made it out her house!!

Who: Sushmita Sen

I do adore Ms Sen but sometimes she really confounds me with her sartorial choices. This has to be the ugliest pants I have seen and her shoe choice isn't the best either. Worn with that top gives her a V-shape which I am sure no one, other than body builders, wants..

Left: Dia Mirza, Center: Farah Ali Khan, Right: Tabu

Ooh, I like what Dia is wearing - Its simple not very high-wattage but any day better than her boring dresses. The top and the tights are in perfect proportion and she carries the outfit with elan..

Farah is a cute LDB which she accessorized with bronze belt and metallic animal print clutch .

I know Tabu is a "serous actress who doesn't care about fashion" but chappals with a dress is a big no-no..She gets it right with the dress though..

Style Watch

Grey Skinnies
Left: Ayesha Takia, Right : Jacqueline
Where: "Aashayein" premiere

Looks like the Aashayein premiere had a dress code since both, Ayesha and Jacquelin, turned up in Grey skinnies with Black jackets. And how different they look! Ayesha looks sweet and chic whereas Jacqeline in her boxy jacket and heart-shaped purse looks skanky. And isn't she a little old for pigtails??

Bare midriffs - First, Sonam at Aisha screening and now Ayesha, is the 80's fashion trend back? I am going to be proudly unfashionable!!

Pastel Yellow
Left: Farah Ali Khan, Right: Kangana Ranaut
Where: IIJW 2010, Arpita's bday bash

How divine is this yellow? Isnt it perfect for a summer dress? They both look very stylish in their outfits. Farah teamed her yellow gown with brown-gold accessories whereas Kangana teamed it up with white shoes/handbag and lovely pearls.

Topstitch jeans
Left: Farah Ali Khan, Right: Rani Mukherjee
Where: Aisha private screening

Are they back in fashion? Fashion is really going green recycling so many trends..You can dress them up like Farah or dress them down like Rani. Either way, this is one trend I am ready to embrace:-)

Grey jumpsuits
Left: Guest, Right: Neha Dhupia
Where: Rosenthal lunch, With love to Obama screening

Jumpsuits are tricky to wear since you dont want look as if you going to sleep or collecting garbage!! The guest's jumpsuit with a draped-top, cinched waist and tapered leg looks unfussy and chic - perfect for an afternoon lunch. Love her orange clutch and grey pumps.
Neha went for a laid-back look for her off-duty hours. No makeup but she glammed up with gold jewelery. love her stacked bangles..

India International Jewellery Week - Day one

The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in its effort to promote India as the “Innovation & Design Destination" for Jewellery, has organized the first India International Jewellery Week (IIJW) in Mumbai.

Who: Katrina Kaif

Katrina is a spokesperson for Nakshatra diamonds and walked the ramp for them on Day one. She is wearing a dress by Neeta Lulla with a mermaid(fish tail) skirt. The colors of the dress are pretty but the bustier seems to be competing with the necklace for attention.

Who: Deepika Padukone

Deepika walked the ramp for Farah Ali Khan in an ivory saree and a King's ransom of layered necklaces.

Here is a closeup shot of their jewelery. I like the ruby and pearl layer necklace that Deepika has worn. Would be perfect with a red wedding lehenga. Her head tikka is a very traditional kundan design and is equally gorgeous. Wot say?

Event: Laila Khan's Wedding Reception

This is going to be short and sweet post since its Friday night.. I wish I could say I have a rocking party to go to but the reality is I am sleepy:-)

Hits
Left: Dia, Right: Farah Ali Khan
An awesome appearance by the lovely Dia after a looong time!! Lovely shade of pista green and I love the design of the sari - how the embroidery density changes between the body of the sari and the pallu. Jewelery is a little un-coordinated.

Isn't Farah's outfit stunning and how divine is the top's hemline?? The purse looks like a last min addition as it doesn't gel with the outfit..Her necklace is stunning.

Left: Pooja, Right: Mallika (Zayed Khan's wife)
Pooja wore a golden gown which she accessorized with big green, emerald brooch. Malaika wore a nice, summery shade of blue paired with an ethereal necklace but she looks a little washed out.

Left: Celeb/Socialite, Right: Prerna Goel
The sari on the left is way too simple for this bling-bling wedding but I liked the gentle shading of this sari, the contrast with turquoise blue and the brocade top. Prena also wore a simple sari but it sooo elegant and the itsy-bisty straps of the top highlight her narrow shoulders.

On the Fence
Left: Rekha, Right: Aishwarya Rai
Neck up Rekha looks good but her sari has a very unfinished look. Aish wore a nice, bright color but the suit is very simple and there isn't anything that makes me go "wow".

Left: Raageshwari, Right: Suzanne
Raageshwari's suit is pretty okay but purple peep-toes?? is she color blind? Totally on the fence about Suzanne's sari and again a gold purse with silver embellished sari ?? maybe these Gals have split-personalities..

Left: Madhoo, Right: Celeb/Socialite
Madhoo wore a simple, boring golden sari. The socialite on the right, wore a really sexy cutout gown for the reception but it falls a little flat. Also, the gown doesn't go with the very traditional Kundan (looks like Kundan) jewelery. I can so kill her for the exquisite jewels:-)

Misses
Left: Celina, Right: Amisha Patel
Celina - sigh, where to start?? tacky outfit, bad makeup, unnecessary large bindi, severe hairstyle..

Amisha - I didn't like the velvet in this dress and the contrast with silver embroidery.

Yummylicious!!

Hits n Miss - Week of 25th Jan

Who: Mallika Sherwat
Where: Directors Guild Awards

Mallika hits all the right notes in this silver metallic body-con dress paired with silver gladiator shoes. Her hair is big though - step away from the hairspray, Mallika..And I would have gone with sky-high stilettos with this dress.

Who: Farah Ali Khan
Where: Ritu Kumar's event

Farah looks very sophisticated in this one-shoulder tulip dress in eye-catching blue. I esp. love the big flowers on the shoulder (reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw's flower brooches) and the same colored purse.

Who: Aanchal Kumar
Where: HDIL race

I was flipping thru the pictures of this event and the dress caught my eye - simple, yet so elegant. The simple silhoutette emphasizes her slim shoulders and the red lips are a nice touch. The clutch is perfect.

Who: Amrit Maghera
Where: Femina's unveiling of 50 most beautiful women

She does look genuinely happy to be at this event. On second thoughts, so would I be if I was one the 50 beautiful women in India.. I wonder if all 50 of them did a thank-you speech, hmmm.. Anyways, I digress - back to the dress. I love the sexy draping of this dress and the metallics on the shoulder. The clutch is a little big - two sizes smaller would have looked better.

Who: Anushka Sharma
Where: Femina's unveiling of 50 most beautiful women

Another silver dress - this time paired with black shoes. Anushka has changed her makeup/hair style and has gone from her demure look to a sultry one. I give her six months before "I will never wear a bikini but the scene demanded it":-) She sizzles here - certainly has the legs to pull this look.

Who: Kareena Kapoor
Where: Launch of Lonely Planet magazine

Kareena has gone for a minimalist look with this black and white halter gown. I wish she had accessorized - it would have taken the look up a notch. My number one rule when it comes to dressing is always, always wear earrings. Since she has pulled her hair back - hoops or dangles would have upgraded this look. She also needs to upgrade the man in her life but thats a story for another blog...

Oh no, what was she thinking!!

Who: Mandira Bedi
Where: HDIL race

This is a perfect example on how not to wear orange. The dress print is so tacky and the bag is all wrong. Mandira babes, you need to go back to ur sarees with spaghetti blouses.
