We finally took the drive down to Jaipur ... to see what we could see.
Admittedly, we were a bit worn out - as the trip was on the heels of Terran being in the hospital, and I wasn't quite prepared for the amount of time it would take to drive the 200 some kilometers, BUT all in all it was a great trip.
We stayed in a newly opened hotel that is managed by a friend of ours ... and the rooms and the pool were a delight. If you're ever in Jaipur and need a place to lay your head ... try the Four Points!
The price was good, the food was impressive (room service was a DREAM!) and it was well located.
We visited the Jaipur Jantar Mantar, but I have to be honest and say that we all dug the Delhi version much more.
We TRIED to visit the Monkey Temple, but I messed up somewhere and instead we ended up at the Sisodia Garden (do NOT ask me how that happened) ...
we were told that the monkeys show up at 4:00 ... and since we didn't realize we were at the wrong spot, we wandered around (the ONLY ones there) for 30 minutes ... patiently waiting for the magic hour of 4:00.
No monkeys ... but guess what DOES happen at 4:00? The fountains come on!
The Amber Fort at night (during a pretty cool light and sound show that we all enjoyed. Mia even retained information that she learned during it, reciting some of the knowledge the next day!).
The Amber Fort during the day
More soon in a post about our travels TO Jaipur and back home to Delhi ... and what we saw along the way.
