Dubai Fashion Week 2011

Aartivijay Gupta drew inspiration from the Japanese art of Origami while Babita M drew inspiration from the Agate stone. Her collection was based on Dresses, maxis and kaftans with strong use of inverted pleats visible in Aartivijay Gupta’s creations whereas Babita M’s collection combines form fitting garments with drapes.

In Dubai Fashion Week 2011 Flowy lehengas worn with cholis featuring high collars and intricate Indian embroidery followed the sari sequence. The traditional salwar kameez was given an extra feminine edge as it brought in lace churidars and sheer leggings.

A long aqua skirt paired with an ornate open purple and gold jacket that resembled colors of the setting sun. The showstopper lehenga was in a warm tone of pink and complemented by a sheer stole or dupatta, also in pink and dusted with sequins and shimmer.

Knee-length dresses with sharp cuts were interspersed with ruffles. Cowl sleeves, frills and embroidered yokes were seen on the runway.
