WHAT I MISSED ABOUT DELHI

I posted about all of the things I missed about the United States, but I also have a list of things that we missed about Delhi!

1.  The "home" factor of our own beds, our photos & our normal.

2.  The sound of Sushila's bangles as she sweeps through our house.

3.  Shanti and her famous snickerdoodles!

4.  The challenge of finding, or helping Shanti to find, ingredients for a new recipe.

5.  Our friends!  We missed you like CRAZY!

6.  The schedule and regiment of our amazing school.

7.  The things that help to complete me ...  the organizations I'm involved with and the projects I'm working on with others.

8.  The cool, so very cool ability to on any given day, take a break from the normal routine and see something amazing (like Anish Kapoor's art exhibit, the architecture of temples, school children on the back of a bicycle rickshaw, a classroom full of Indian children learning to speak and read English).

9.  The sounds of snake charmers just outside our garden window.

10.  Mali and his magic hands (excited to be starting a small garden project with him in the coming weeks!)

11.  Our amazing drivers and their unwavering efforts at keeping us safe, getting us where we need to go and providing me with an extra set of hands for errands and taking care of our busy schedules.

12.  The dance, the music, the colors, the celebrations.

13.  The sweet smiles of MK and LK, our guards who protect our home, keep an eye out for our pups, and always greet us with a precious "Namaste" whenever we depart or arrive at our home.

14.  Sanjeev and his assistance with anything and everything that we may need "handled"

15.  Seeing camels, elephants, monkeys and cows ... just as part of our everyday jaunts around town.

16.  Being able to simply walk into the chemist and get medicine to fix what ails us (no prescription needed).

17.  Having a market 2 blocks away where one can find fabric, medicine, an ATM, groceries, fresh produce, stationary supplies, a tailor, an electrician's shop, paint store, pet supplies and more.

18.  The flower markets.  Oh, the flower markets.

19. The smell of freshly ground spices

20.  Indira Market.  By far, my favorite place to shop for produce.  Feels so liberating to spend an hour with the shopkeepers and smell the goods, determine which fruit to purchase after holding them and judging their ripeness, being introduced to new foods that I never knew existed.

21.  Having McDonalds and KFC .... delivered to our doorstep.

22.  Watching children playing a pickup game of cricket and listening to them laugh.

23.  Knowing that three days a week, our laundry will be washed, folded and pressed. Gone are the days of my wrinkled laundry mess!

24.  Our neighborhood birds and the morning tradition of Laughing Yoga in the park.

25.  Calling our family doctor and the pups' vet on their personal mobile.

I don't have fab photos to go along with this list, but THOSE are some of the things that I missed about Delhi!  I'll admit that some of them are very superficial, but they are all honest!!

Delhi, we missed you and are happy to be back!
