Daily catch

Who: Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan
Where: Dr Batra health awards

Aishwarya in an Indian outfit that is not (i) anarkali (ii) schizophrenic, tacky or OTT (iii) has no velvet!! How did this happen? What are the chances it will happen again - hmm, not likely:-)
Aishwarya is pretty in an simple, tangerine outfit. The color really looks good on her..

Who: Nandita Das, Rashmi Uday Singh
Where: Jatin Das art show

Nandita looks graceful and elegant at her dad's art show. A very talented actress whom we don't get a see a whole lot:(
I like Rashmi quirky and bright sari. She has some of the most interesting handbags - all of them tend to have a strong handicraft flavor to them.

On a separate note, I wanted to thank Poohkie and ClassyandFabulous for giving me the Stylish Blogger award.. love!!
I promise I will do the award post one of these days:)

Wow, I feel like Madonna!

You wish:-) Shilpa Shetty in her "travel uniform" of velour tracksuits and designer bags.
Weren't these in fashion in 90s?? What next hon, Scrunchies?

I love chocolate..

How do you wear your Birkin?

Sugar and Spice ..and nots so nice

Who: Monikangana Dutta
Where: Performance of "Lets Tango"

What the...? Do you see what I see? Whoa, I cannot get my head around this!! Looks like Monikangana wrapped some dead, furry animal around her feet.

Who: Ameesha Patel
Where: "Break ke Baad" screening, Rocky's AZA collection launch

Dressed down or dressed up, this is one celeb who is never going to make it to our Hall of Fame. And I am not complaining:-)

PAT DOWN vs THROW DOWN

Ok ... I may get a lot of flak from this post ... from both my US readers and my India readers.  I welcome the discussion and debate in your comments.

When you turn on the television or the radio here in the States (or at least in the area we are currently located temporarily) it seems you hear these words an AWFUL lot ::

Patdown
Frisk
TSA
Airport Security
Invasion of Privacy

Really?  I mean, seriously?

Now ... hear me out.  I get that passengers are left with the limited options of either 1) choosing to have the body scan, 2) undergoing a patdown or 3) not flying at all.

I also get that people are saying "it's groping" and hollering about being "strip searched".  Is it really an invasion of privacy?

AND ... what do those body scanners REALLY show anyway?  NBC has a video that helps to explain a bit ... WATCH NOW.

Had this technology been introduced on September 12th, 2001, would there be such an outrage?  If the person in front of you in the security line was found to have explosives or something else banned by the TSA, would you still throw a fit about being required to submit to the scanners?

In my opinion (and it is a humble one), I would prefer to submit -- without complaint -- to the TSA requirement for pat downs or the scanner, if it meant that my family arrived to our destination safely and without incident.

If the threat of terrorism is a substantiated situation, and scanners/pat downs are done away with, what is the alternative?

Of course, my opinion may be somewhat influenced by the fact that I live in Delhi, India, where I undergo a full on pat down just when I walk into a mall for some window shopping, let alone the pat down at the airport when leaving Delhi!

So ... discuss away.  Do you think the allegations of 'invasion of privacy' is ridiculous?  Do you think the scanners are too invasive?  Would you prefer to go back to the days of simply removing shoes and laptops before going through security?

Style roundup

Who: Sushmita Sen
Where: Unveiling of Saisha design lable by Shama Sikander

Sushmita keeps it simple in a white frilly top and skinny jeans at a store opening. The top isnt winning any points from me but she makes the whole thing work.

Who: Sonali Bendre
Where: Oral B promotions

Another white top and skinny jeans combination. Sonali looks gorgeous and stylish and by pairing a slim fitting top with her jeans, really plays up her slim silhouette. The only sore point is the plastic, tacky beads..

Who: Prachi Desai
Where: Oral B promotions

Looks like someone has a new stylist:-) Either that or someone has done an intervention becoz Prachi has stopped wearing her plain-Jane terribly bor-r-ring dresses. Next on Prachi's to-do list, a new hair stylist!!

Who: Shahzahn Padamsee
Where: First look at "Dil to baccha hai"

Love, love the color and jeweled neckline. Shahzahn styled her her lovely asymmetrical dress with gold accessories. She looks cute and fresh.

Who: Urmila Matondakar
Where: At a wedding

Urmila wore a really loong anarkali to a wedding recently. The color is nice and the velvet at the hemline gives it a luxe look. I would have preferred this without the ugly sleeves...

INCLUDING ME.

Karen recently had a great blog post about writing stuff down ... and capturing images of herself on film.

When you're the photographer, or the mama ... often the photo history of your life as a family unfortunately does NOT include images of you.

I first started writing at my personal Donuts and Graham Crackers blog in an effort to capture memories and put down on 'paper' the lives of my kiddos. My first posts were a recreation of my handwritten journals from 2003 - 2007.  I then posted the highs and lows, the funny and the sad in our lives from 2008 - 2009 when we left for India.

In reading back through those, I realized a couple of things.

One - I need to get back to the place where I can simply throw up a photo of something that happened during the week ... and not wait for commentary to go along with the photo.

Two - I need to turn that quiet, dusty and forgotten blog into a coffee table book for the kids.  I create a yearly photo book for the family, but to capture the early years with them, this needs to go on my to-do list. Pronto. Stat. Like yesterday!

Three - I need to photograph myself more.  Whether that is by asking the kids to use my camera (I can ONLY imagine!), or handing it to Husb OR using my new MacBook (LOVE!) and the fun new program, iPhotoBooth.

I don't know how regular I will be, but I will do my best to start capturing the mundane moments and everyday "stuff" that happens in MY life, even if it's just simple iPhotoBooth shots.

SATURDAY SIGNAGE ... and other random stuff

Just a bit of randomness to share with you on this post-Thanksgiving Saturday.

From a sign outside a mid-western Chilis restaurant :

Had NO idea what we were missing when it comes to fall/seasonal PopTarts flavors!

Brilliant idea to have drop down step stools in some of the airport bathrooms now!

Um ....

Ok ... fun little quiz for you all.  Who can guess the locations of these three HORRID carpet choices???

The winner gets ... well ... recognition from all of the Delhi Bound readers!

Urban Prettiness Inspiration Shoot

I was never a girlie girl but in the past few years I have embraced my inner girlie, therefore if came as no surprise that I literally squealed with delight when I saw these pictures, the ultimate in wedding inspiration.

Designed by Nathalie at Luxe Fete Event Planning and Design Studio, every picture is utterly drop dead gorgeous, it’s not only the height of prettiness, but it’s got a certain sexy glamorous feel to it to.

Wouldn’t you just love to be a guest at a wedding like this?? I know I would, and I think it’s even gave me some ideas from my bedroom( which is in dire need of a revamp) especially loving the mirrors tres chic don’t you think?

Here's more about the shoot from the lovely and talented Nathalie -

This concept photoshoot is our interpretation of an urban love story. We sought to design something industrial yet ethereal, glamorous yet raw, and something just plain ole' pretty. The minute I knew we were designing something with an urban flavor is the minute I knew we had to do it at The Nuage Studio. The Nuage Studio is 6,000 square feet of bare open walls, high ceilings and smoky gray elements - perfect to ground the pretty and girly elements we wanted to play with. All of this in MIAMI.
While touring the space we fell in love with their tall, stark white crocodile-textured royal table and high back sofas. We paired the table with Kartell inspired bar stools because (a) they are sleek and (b) they allow you to absorb the open space, a feeling we definitely wanted to invoke. One of my favorite elements is the natural cracks in the concrete floor. Something haunting about them, something beautiful about them, something real.
To soften the design, we paired beautiful pink peonies and roses with rough edges like chipped mirror containers, cracked goblets and crocodile-textured furniture. We then tried to infuse glamour by incorporating a grouping of three fabulous floor sized Venetian mirrors and an amazing modern chandelier from Modani. Textured linens, like a deconstructed rosette, a micro sequined, the classic pintuck and a super-fab Flokati rug in the lounge area tied everything together so romantically. Mirrors + Pink Peonies + a Loft Space = URBAN PRETTINESS.
