About CanSupport

CanSupport is a Delhi-based organization, which provides people with advanced cancer and their families with appropriate physical, emotional, social and spiritual support. 80% of patients diagnosed with cancer in India (approx. 800,000 annually) come when their cancers are no longer curable and when they need palliative care. We believe that every cancer patient deserves appropriate, high quality care and support and has the right to live with dignity.

Since 1997, CanSupport has pioneered the development of a home-based palliative-care service that brings medical and nursing care as well as emotional support to the doorstep of patients and their families living in and around Delhi. Seven trained inter-disciplinary teams, comprising doctors, nurses and counselors, travel almost 150 kilometers a day and look after 320 patients between them. To date, we have provided our free service to more than 3000 patients and four times that number of relatives.

CanSupport is also working to train additional doctors, nurses, counselors and volunteer and runs a Day-Care service for children and adults with cancer as well as a telephone Helpline.
