Building Forts

I'm curious.

How many of you grew up building forts?

Either outdoor forts, or indoor forts?
This was a HUGE part of my childhood ... (although I remember doing more fort building outside) and is also a weekly (sometimes daily) occurrence in our household as well.

I've been telling people about how bizarre it is that Sushila cleans up the forts every day (unless I specifically remind her to let them be).  It seems strange to me because it seems obvious that these are part of our daily play ... and should be left alone.

Instead, the blankets end up folded up, the chairs and "support structure" all put back into their normal places.

Even more strange is the number of people who respond with a blank look.

You know ?? Big blankets, sheets and every chair/couch in the house?

This one is a doozy that we built in the kids' room.

It took the better part of a morning to construct and get the blankets to hang/lay and drape just so.

What better way to spend an afternoon?

Tony even took some time out to work on "summer homework" with Mia looking on in approval.

And lunch inside the fort ... you GOTTA have lunch in the fort.

They were begging to sleep in the fort that night ... but we convinced them that maybe another night, we would do that.

The kids LOVE making forts.  Tell me they aren't the only ones recreating childhood memories by constructing these?
